Insect Growth Regulators (IGR) Generally have very little toxicity to mammals since it disrupts the growth and development processes specific to insects. Can cause sterilization of adult insects. They contain a synthetic juvenile hormone "look-alike" which disrupts the normal growth development of cockroaches, stored product pests, fleas, and others. When they become adults, they will become adults incapable of reproducing. It also disrupts the normal life cycle thus killing these insects. Below are products containing IGR material. The two products that we carry that contain IGRs are, DEMIZE Carpet Spray and Nylar IGR
NYLAR
is the latest growth regulator which is essentially a protein. When certain insects are exposed to
it early in development they are not able to properly mature into eating
or reproducing adults. Nylar will last several weeks per application, it
is odorless and will stop the cycle of clothes moths, fleas, roaches, and
others.
Insect Growth Regulators
A
new technology in the management of fleas is the use of insect growth
regulators (IGRs). These substances are similar to chemicals produced by
the flea to regulate the shedding of its skin during molting. They work by
interfering with the molting process, thus preventing the immature flea
from developing into an adult. This method of control is a long-term
process, since it will only kill larvae as they molt. A recent study using pyriproxyfen (sold as Nylar
FOR FLEA
CONTROL:
The
active ingredient in this concentrate is an insect growth regulator. Nylar
IGR is similar to insect growth hormones that occur neutrality in insects
and acts on the immature life stages of the flea, preventing the adult
flea from developing Flea eggs deposited on treated areas will not develop
into adult fleas. Flea larvae crawling onto treated surfaces will also not
develop into adult fleas The unique properties of Nylar IGR eliminates the
flea population, when used as directed. Nylar IGR causes a gradual
reduction and ultimate elimination of the flea population by breaking the
reproductive cycle. NYLAR IGR
terminates the flea life cycle and stops the development of the immature
stages of the flea for 210 days preventing them from reaching the biting
adult stage Existing adult fleas and flea pupae are not affected If a high
population of adult fleas are present, the use of an adulticide may be
necessary for immediate control. This concentrate may also be combined
with a flea adulticide. |
